Are you someone who thinks she has contracted breast cancer? Then you should keep on reading! It's pretty understandable that if you do think so, you have to get a doctor to check you out. But maybe you don't think your ready for that step. Here are a few steps to take.

First, let's look at the procedures for doing a self-exam. This way you can at least familiarize yourself with your breast and some breast cancer symptoms.
In addition, but not a substitute, to be sure, are the many resources on the internet. There are a growing number of excellent websites that provide a horde of information for you to explore your options more.

Specifically, there are symptom checkers that allow you to enter specific data and it will give you several possibilities of what you may be experiencing. Again, however, it must be stressed that it is no replacement for a doctor's care and advice.

Doing a BSE couldn't be more basic! All you do really is feel your breasts and shoulders and surrounding areas for one of the most frequently seen breast cancer symptoms, lumps or abnormalities in the tissues there. Not all lumps are necessarily breast cancer symptoms, but you should be a bit more alert if you find them.

After feeling your breast and shoulder areas for lumps, next just look at the form of your breasts. You should notice if they look different than usual. Also, take note of your nipples. How are they compared to usual? Another breast cancer symptom to be aware of, and one that is easy to be aware of, is a bloody leakage. If you notice any of these signs, you should definitely consider seeking a doctor's diagnosis.

Something else you might think about is the advice of someone who has lived through breast cancer and who knows breast cancer symptoms first hand. Furthermore, she can tell you about the kinds of breast cancer treatment and the procedures you might be facing. And even more encouraging, she is evidence that if you do indeed have genuine breast cancer symptoms, and breast cancer itself, it is a disease you can survive. So there is no reason not to find out for sure if you have it or not.

After getting the results, the doctor will discuss several options with you. There are a wide variety of options when it comes to breast cancer treatment. No matter the results of your diagnosis, don't be shy to get the doctor to go into depth on all of the available options you have.

On an emotional note, it is often worse having the dread of not knowing if those breast cancer symptoms are actually breast cancer or not. It's best to find out for sure, then take action accordingly rather than being haunted by the uncertainty.
If you do become convinced that you should see a doctor - and really, you shouldn't chance your life by not doing so - then you'll go through a couple of initial steps. The first will likely be a basic physical exam. Then the doctor might order several other exams including a mammogram or others.

You know, I've known lots of who have had breast cancer and survived, so even being diagnosed with breast cancer, while it is shocking at first, is not the end. So many excellent breast cancer treatments are now available.
